Oh My What Am I Doing?
Golly what a day I feel like a headless chicken. Professor Plum ate the cake at 13:00 I've just been informed by my son which to be honest is very nice but NOT very helpful when I am already struggling to comprehend what on earth I'm doing in the world of Blog. As usual I had a mid-night brilliant idea and started this blogging lark. In the cold light of day I am trying to realise just what I think I'm going to write...Basically I've decided for the minute just to let my rambling thoughts fill the empty space. I started several posts which now sit in the draft section waiting for a more inspired approach when my brain is in fully "non- sleep deprived" working order.
So far today we got up very, very late as usual, in fact a might later than usual. How I'm gonna get our sleep cycle back into a pattern by next Tuesday, the dreaded new school year, is beyond me. Currently the wee lad from across the road who has been banging on the door all morning is in here playing cluedo junior with Stephen, oh I haven't actually introduced us, let me just correct that. I am Lorraine a thritysomething full time mum to Stephen who was 7 years old a few days ago. Cluedo Jr is one of his birthday presents and a big favourite for this week at least. My son loves toys and books and anything that costs money I think! He has mini obessions I call them but overall he is obessed with getting and owning every toy on the planet, the mini obessions are short lived basically until the next shopping trip, I avoid going to any shop with him if at all possible, where he must have a toy or a magazine or simple just something that's his, a new belonging to stack up in his ever more crowded bedroom or to leave lying all over my ever more cluttered home.
Is he spoilt? mmh some think so I reckon they should try saying no to him. In fact we're not that well off he doesn't get really expensive things in fact as long as he gets something he will accept no to the expensive toys he asks for and end up with a little car for 67p or the likes. It's not the toy specifically it's the need to have something new to get his teeth into and as this helps increase his imagination I think it's worth indulging him at this age afterall it is just us 2 who will pay for it later and not just in the monetary sense.
Oh no raised voices apparently it will only go into "megazord mode"," it cannot change into a car aswell, have you got that?" Stephen yells at his 'friend'! It's a recurring theme R comes over, the play happily side by side for 10 mins then Stephen as usual spoils his own fun because of his rigid ideas he insists on telling everyone what they can't and can do with his toys or even with their own toys. R says I'm going home Stephen runs after him trembling "I'm sorry I'm sorry I won't do it again" and back they trot for the cycle to start over. At 6 R is very forgiving thankfully but not very understanding of Stephen's 'differences' I hope over time there can be more understanding from both sides and they remain friends cause R is a fairly nice lad compared to most of the little boys around here! Ah well there happily playing again for now and it's really lovely to see though a little noisy to hear LOL :)
